  1. Heart disease is otherwise known as coronary disease and refers to the fact that the coronary circulation has failed to supply a decent amount of circulation to cardiac muscle and the surrounding tissue.

    Causes of Heart disease
    1. When we take in foods that are high in cholesterol and saturated fats, the cholesterol gets stuck in our arteries as plaque or atheromas. These cause blockages and if the blockages become severe, or if a clot forms that cannot get past the plaque, the heart is starved of blood and a heart attack occurs.
    2. The consumption of carbonated drinks with our meals block the absorption of nutrients. It blocks the absorption of lead into the bloodstream thus preventing lead poisoning.

    3. Microwave cooking, pre-cooked foods, pasteurization and purification methods that kill beneficial bacteria and enzymes that we need for proper digestion. The heat destroys the enzymes and without the enzymes we sometimes can’t absorb the nutrients.

    4. Some people are born with heart disease. For instance, having only half a heart. If doctors could not cure this at early years then that patient will have heart disease for as long as possible.

    How to prevent Heart Disease
The first thing to start with is a diet and eating decent amounts of heart-healthy foods and nutrients. This should include fibre, raw foods (including nuts and almonds).
Stay away from foods/drinks like caffeine, alcohol, homogenized milk and liquorice.
Use Celtic sea salt instead of table salt and be sure that the water you drink is pure and has no added chlorine.

  3. Heart disease can be used as a definition for a number of many diseases affecting the human heart. Heart disease was the leading cause of death in the USA. “In 2005, 652,091 people died of heart disease (50.5% of them women). This was 27.1% of all U.S. deaths.” Statistics given by Centre’s for disease Control and Prevention (2009)
Heart disease is mainly caused by the "slow build-up of fatty deposits on the inner wall of the blood vessels that supply the heart muscle with blood" according to The Heart Foundation (2008). This eventually allows less blood to be able to travel along the arteries. This process can happen over a lifetime from childhood through to death
The 4 main causes for coronary heart disease include
    • Smoking
    • Diabetes
    • Physical inactivity
    • Depression
The best ways to prevent heart disease from spreading include just
    • Keeping a healthy diet
    • Exercise regularly
    • Quit smoking / don’t smoke
    • Keep control your diabetes, cholesterol and triglyceride levels

Heart disease can be caused by many different things. Four main causes of heart disease are high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and smoking. High cholesterol can cause heart disease by cholesterol slowly blocking up the inside of arteries. This slows or blocks the arteries preventing blood from reaching the heart. High blood pressure causes heart disease by damaging the blood vessels and putting the heart under strain. When a person has a high blood pressure their heart has to work harder and then it becomes weaker. People who have diabetes have a greater risk of getting heart disease because it blocks up the arteries and this can cause blood clots. Smoking causes heart disease because the chemicals from the tobacco cause the walls of the veins, arteries and blood vessels to weaken. To prevent heart disease you should watch your cholesterol levels and keep them at the right level by eating foods that are low in fat and high in good cholesterol also make sure your blood pressure stays stable and steady. If you are diabetic then you should watch your blood glucose levels, exercise regularly and eat well. If you are a smoker, your risk of getting heart disease would be greatly reduced if you quit. To prevent heart disease you should keep steady cholesterol and blood pressure levels and live a healthy lifestyle.

Heart disease, known as cardiovascular disease, affects the heart’s two major network blood vessels; one that circulates around your whole body and one that circulates to the lungs and back again. When these blood vessels don’t function for whatever reason, that is known as cardiovascular disease. Coronary disease and stroke are both types of cardiovascular disease.
Coronary disease is when the two left and right coronary arteries (leading out from the aorta out the heart) get clogged up with plaque and therefore fail to bring the necessary nutrients and oxygen to the heart muscle. Stroke is when an artery leading to you brain gets blocked or it had burst and your brain can’t get enough oxygen and nutrients, so it starts to die.
Four things that cause cardiovascular disease are smoking, stress, high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels in the blood. You can prevent cardiovascular disease by not smoking, taking in less alcohol, eating a diet that consists of less saturated fat, controlling your blood pressure, and doing a daily exercise of 30 minutes.

The best way to prevent heart disease is by taking a simple walk. 2 ½ hours of walking a week can cut your risk of having heart disease by nearly a third. This is because it raises your good cholesterol level and reduces blood pressure. These are essential if you want to control the chance of getting heart disease. If you walk 5 hours a week, your chance of having risk of heart disease is cut in half! All aerobic exercises benefit the heart when done on a regular basis.
The 4 major causes of heart disease are smoking, age, gender, and physical inactivity. Smoking causes the major arteries to tighten, increase in heart rate, and causes changes in the timing of your heart beating. Heart disease is caused by physical inactivity, because exercise burns calories, helps to control cholesterol levels and diabetes, may lower blood pressure, strengthens the heart muscle, and makes the arteries more flexible. These all lead to heart disease if not treated with physical activity. Men are more likely to have heart disease than women. However, as women experience menopause, the risk increases and by the age of 65, the chance of heart disease is about equal with men. About 80% of people who die of heart disease are over the age of 65. As we grow older, our hearts don’t work as well. Our heart walls and arteries may harden and the heart becomes less able to pump blood to the muscles of the body. This is how risk of heart disease increases with age. It is important that we maintain a healthy heart throughout our lives and that we treat it with respect.

Heart disease is the leading killer of adults in the United States. Luckily most of the causes of heart disease are preventable. 4 major things which prevent heart disease are high cholesterol, high blood pressure, Stress and being overweight.

Making some changes in your diet such as taking nutritional supplements and exercising regularly.

Exercise-Regularly participating in physical activity can lower your risk of getting heart disease. And when you mix physical activity with other lifestyle measures, such as maintaining a healthy weight the results are great.
Physical activity helps you manage your weight and can reduce your chances of developing other heart conditions that may cause a strain on your heart, such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol. It also reduces stress which can also be a factor in heart disease.
It is recommended that you get at least 30 to 60 minutes of moderately intense physical activity every day. However, even shorter amounts of exercise offer heart benefits. You can even break up your workout time into 10-minute sessions at a time and still get the same benefits.

Replace sugars and carbohydrates with a alternative of 5 vegetables and 2 fruits every day. New research shows that most people would benefit from increasing their fruit and vegetable intake. A lifetime habit of eating adequate amounts fruit and vegetables every day can help prevent:
    • Coronary heart disease
    • Some forms of cancer
    • Obesity
    • Constipation

Eat a serving of deep sea/cold water fish- Fish has a source of omega 3 in it and Omega-3 fatty acids, a type of polyunsaturated fat, may decrease your risk of heart disease, protect against irregular heartbeats and lower blood pressure. Some fish are a good natural source of omega-3s. Omega-3s are present in smaller amounts in flaxseed oil, walnut oil, soybean oil and canola oil, and they can also be found in supplements.

  9. There are four major causes of heart (or cardiovascular) disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking and stroke.
"Coronary artery disease, the most common form of cardiovascular disease, is the leading cause of death in America today. But thanks to many studies involving thousands of patients, researchers have found certain factors that play an important role in a person's chances of developing heart disease. These are called risk factors.

Risk factors are divided into two categories: major and contributing. Major risk factors are those that have been proven to increase your risk of heart disease. Contributing risk factors are those that doctors think can lead to an increased risk of heart disease, but their exact role has not been defined.

The more risk factors you have, the more likely you are to develop heart disease. Some risk factors can be changed, treated, or modified, and some cannot. But by controlling as many risk factors as possible, through lifestyle changes and/or medicines, you can reduce your risk of heart disease."

The best ways to reduce risk of getting a diseased heart are:

    - EXERCISE

    - GOOD SLEEPING PATTERNS

    - HEALTHY FOOD AND NO EXCESSIVE ALCOHOL

    - NO SMOKING OR TAKING DRUGS

I agree with everything that has been said above in all the blogs. The four main causes of heart disease as said by Apeksha are:

    • Smoking
    • Depression
    • Heart Attack
    • Stroke

Heart disease is a very common way to die. Like Sunny has stated that in 2005 652,091 people died from heart disease in the USA. Heart disease can have less of a risk on people when they do things that need to be done in a normal lifestyle. These things can involve as Tom said:

    • Exercise
    • Good sleeping patterns
    • No smoking or taking drugs
    • Healthy food
    • No excessive alcohol

Life is very short and you have to live it while you can so why waste it by killing yourself just by your lifestyle.

I agree with Jessica: "Life is very short and you have to live it while you can so why waste it by killing yourself just by your lifestyle." One should take special care with their lifestyle. Also, I agree with Sunny in his statement that: "in 2005 652,091 people died from heart disease in the USA." I would like to point out that it is the USA we are talking about here. I don't want to be racist, but America is the fattest country in the world and is obvioulsy a country where most people whould die from heart disease because of obesity. If they could possibly take control of their eating habits and lack of exercise, more lives could be spared.
